Yesterday, something scary happened. I looked at my screen time and realized I had spent 10 hours on my phone. Just scrolling. Nothing productive. Nothing meaningful. Just… scrolling.

I felt sick to my stomach. What am I doing with my life? Ten hours of my life—gone. Wasted. For nothing.
This Isn’t the First Time
If I’m being honest, this is part of my daily routine. I pick up my phone to “just check something” and hours disappear.
Yes, sometimes I watch educational courses. Sometimes I’m learning something useful. But that’s maybe 30 minutes, an hour at most. The rest? Mindless scrolling through content I don’t even remember five minutes later.
The Moment I Realized
Yesterday, I consciously tracked my phone usage for the first time. I wanted to see the real number. When I saw “10 hours,” I felt a wave of regret wash over me.
What am I doing to my life? What am I doing with my time?
The acknowledgment hit hard. Frustration. Depression. A terrible feeling in my chest that something is deeply wrong. This isn’t going well. I was really feeling bad.
The System That Actually Works
Then I remembered something important: “Less but consistent.”
You cannot change your life overnight. But tiny steps, taken consciously every day, can change everything.
So I made a decision.

My Experiment
Today, I locked my phone in the cupboard. I won’t touch it for 10 hours. These 10 hours will be phone-free. Completely.
I don’t know if I’ll succeed. I’ll tell you tomorrow whether I made it or failed.
But I’m trying. That’s what matters.
Have You Been Here Too?
Have you ever experienced this? The excessive phone use, then the regret? The hours lost that you can’t get back?
Tell me in the comments. I want to know I’m not alone in this struggle.
