I Locked My Phone for 10 Hours – Here’s What Actually Happened

Yesterday, I told you I spent 10 hours on my phone. I was shocked. Frustrated. Ten hours of my life—gone. Just scrolling, gaining nothing but more frustration.

So I made a promise. I would not use my phone for the entire next day.

Today’s Result: I Succeeded

I didn’t use my phone. And honestly? I feel lighter. Happier. More relaxed.

The Digital Wellbeing Surprise

When I checked my screen time app, it showed 1 hour and 47 minutes. Wait—what? I thought I didn’t use my phone at all!

Then I remembered. My father borrowed my phone to call my sister. That was 30+ minutes. Then my friend used it to look up a cooking recipe on YouTube.

But me? I kept my promise. Zero usage.

How Was My Day?

At some points, I felt bored. Really bored. My hand kept reaching for my phone out of habit. But I didn’t give in.

My whole day felt calm. Peaceful, even.

I didn’t see any news about terrible things happening in the world—stories that make me feel helpless and sad because I can’t do anything to help. No mindless reels. No shorts. No “motivational” content that just spikes my dopamine for 30 seconds and leads to zero action.

Dealing with Boredom

When boredom hit, I replaced it with something real. I spent time with my family. My father, my sister, other family members.

Not just sitting beside them while staring at my phone. Actually with them. Listening. Talking. Being present.

My Honest Conclusions

Here’s what changed in just one day:

I found so much time. Tasks I’d been putting off? I completed them.

My mind felt fresh. Relaxed. Clear. Like a weight had been lifted.

Real family time. Not forced. Just natural connection.

No depression from endless scrolling. No disturbing news. No comparison reels. No FOMO (fear of missing out).

I slept better. My sleep was deeper and more restful.

Real conversations. I talked to people. Actual human beings. About real things.

Peace of mind. My heart felt calm. Content. Sukoon.

Will I Do This Again?

Yes. Not every day—that’s not realistic. But I’m going to set boundaries. Maybe phone-free mornings. Or no phone after 8 PM.

Because one day without my phone taught me something important: I’m not missing anything. The world keeps spinning. And I’m actually living instead of just watching other people live.
